Community Rules of Conduct

These Rules of Conduct constitute a legal agreement between you (“you”, “your” or “user”) and Lightning Source LLC (“LSI”, “we” or “us”), and governs your use of our community forum (the “Forum”).

The Forum is intended to be a place where you and our other publishers and authors can engage in discussions on various subjects concerning our services and your titles, in a friendly and non-aggressive environment and we trust every person will have an enjoyable experience. Please think before you post and keep your comments limited to the topic at hand and above all be nice. If you come across any violations to these guidelines or have any problems navigating the site, do not hesitate to let us know through the Forum Contact Form. You understand and agree this Forum is not always accurate, complete or useful, and LSI is not responsible for the content of any message or post.

By using the Forum and/or participating in any discussion, you accept these rules and guidelines (“Rules of Conduct”), which include by reference, LSI’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. The Rules of Conduct are subject to change without notice. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are aware of the current rules and guidelines for posting.

Here are some general guidelines we expect to be followed:

• Do not post obscene, indecent, hateful, offensive, defamatory, abusive, harassing or profane material.

• Do not post junk mail, pyramid schemes, chain letters or advertisements.

• All the forums are categorized by topics.  Please post your questions or messages in the appropriate forum.

• If you post a link to another site, please provide a brief explanation of where the link goes as a courtesy to other users

• There will be no racial, ethnic, gender based insults or any other personal discriminations. 

• There will be no posts meant to offend or hurt any other individual, in a manner which is offensive or inflammatory. This includes flaming or instigating arguments.

• Do not post copyrighted material, including newsletter items, newspaper articles, excerpts from books, music, poems, photographs, video files or any other material, unless you own the copyright to that material, or have written permission to post it.

• Do not engage in personal attacks.

• There will be no use of profanity on our message boards

• Vulgar and insulting nicknames or usernames will be removed. Nicknames or usernames attempting to impersonate other users will be removed.

• Do not post anyone's telephone number, street address. or any other personal information.

• Do not post an e-mail address belonging to another person.

• Do not post information that encourages criminal activity of any kind, or any statements that may give rise to civil liability.

• Trolling and cyberstalking are NOT permitted on this Forum and are grounds for restriction. Trolling on this board includes posting controversial and often irrelevant or off-topic messages with the intention of (or anticipated result of) baiting other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal, harmonious on-topic discussion, especially when a pattern of such posting is apparent.

• Do not post affiliate links or links to direct others to any pages at their own commercial website or website in which they have a commercial interest, including informational pages unless a vendor account has been established.

• General discussions of politics, general government policies, weaponry, gun rights and religion are not permitted in this Forum. However, we understand occasional discussions regarding current or pending legislation or regulations pertaining directly to the publishing world may be acceptable. However, these will be closed or removed if they wander off topic or become disruptive.

• Remember answers to many of the questions you have might be found in the Ingram Spark Help Center.  We encourage you to search for topics, to find your answers. 

• Submissions regarding the administration or moderation of forum posts or comments are not permitted and will be removed.

Commercial Activity

This Forum does not discourage or endorse any commercial entity and is not intended for soliciting business. Any authorized commercial participants must adhere to all the forum policies including these specifically set out for commercial participants:

• who have a commercial interest in participating in our community will be identified as commercial vendors at our discretion. We enforce a very strict policy regarding solicitation by commercial participants.

• commercial vendors may not quote prices in any forum.

• commercial vendors may not use any section of the forum to discuss their products or services unless answering a direct question and even in this case vendors may not quote prices.

• Commercial vendors may place a (1) link to their company website in their signature line (font size 2).

Responsibility

You remain solely responsible for the content of your post or message and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless LSI, and our affiliates, subsidiaries, employees, representatives and agents with respect to any claim based upon transmission and/or content of your post or message. Any posts or messages express the views of the individual and not always the views of LSI or our employees. We reserve the right, but undertake no duty, to review, edit, move, or delete any content submitted by users, in our sole discretion, without notice

Violations

If LSI solely determines any Rules of Conduct are violated, we reserve the right to remove, edit or delete posts and if necessary ban or restrict further account access. Additionally, violations of these Rules of Conduct may also cause immediate suspension of your Lightning Source account. Abuse toward Forum administrators or moderators may result in suspension of your account. Complaints about a moderator's decision regarding a particular post are not to be made in posts; instead send a private message to a moderator. If a moderator deletes or edits one of your posts and you disagree with the action, contact the moderator concerned or any other member of our site team. Do not repost deleted material. This forum is largely self-policing, which means that moderators will respond and react to problems reported to them of LSI here.
