At IngramSpark, we use the term “compensation” or "publisher compensation" instead of "royalties" when referring to payments made to the author/publisher for distribution sales. IngramSpark is a publishing and distribution platform and pays compensation for books sold through Ingram’s global distribution network. Publishers pay authors “royalties” for books sold.
We will provide a monthly Sales Report to you via email, for books sold through the distribution channels. IngramSpark monthly reports include the book title, ISBN, quantity shipped, the wholesale price of books sold, the cost of printing, and compensation earned per title. Reports will be emailed within five (5) business days after the end of the month and will include sales for the prior month. Example: Report for June sales will be sent in the first week of July.
Payments are made to the publisher, via direct deposit or PayPal, 90 days from the end of the month in which the sales are reported.
*eBook retailers have 25 days after month end to report eBook sales to Ingram
*If there were no distribution sales, you will not receive a compensation report email.
* We have a minimum threshold of $25.00 for electronic payments made in Australia, Europe, and Canada, therefore, payments are not sent until sales accumulate to the minimum $25.00
* Reporting will show sales in a specific country's currency but will be converted and paid in the publisher's preferred currency.
The following is an example of how compensation earnings are calculated, in US pricing:
$21.99 Retail/List Price of the book
-53% Wholesale discount distribution partners receive (this is not the discount bookstores receive)
$10.34 Wholesale price the distribution partners pay Ingram when they buy the book
-$6.18 Print cost for a 6x9 (229x152mm) 400-page paperback book
$4.16 Compensation earnings paid for every book sold
